CHESTER Widener University announced the appointment of two new members to its board of trustees.

Sophia Wisniewska is regional chancellor for the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg. From 2005 to 2013, she served as chancellor of Penn State Brandywine.

Wisniewska also worked on the Chester Higher Education Council, a nonprofit organization formed by the presidents of the colleges and universities in lower Delaware County.

Daniel Hartney is a senior business management major from Scotia, N.Y. He was appointed as the student trustee for the 2014-15 academic year.

Hartner has focused on food insecurity, alternative agriculture, and utilizing a for-profit business model to create food security. He was named an Oskin Leader by the university in his sophomore year.
