20,000 Bucks Peco customers lose power

20,000 Peco customers lose power

About 20,000 Peco customers lost power Thursday morning, a Peco spokesman said.

The power went out for about an hour and was restored to all customers just before 8, said spokesman Ben Armstrong.

The cause is under investigation, Armstong said, adding that the utility had not determined whether the outages were storm-related or due to an equipment issue.

Lightning strikes were widespread overnight, according to the National Weather Service. Lightning-related house fires were reported in Bucks, Chester, Gloucester, and Cumberland Counties.

The weather service reported that thunderstorm winds had downed numerous trees on Route 313 from Bedminster Township to Doylestown, Bucks County.
