State commission awards museum grants


State commission awards grants for museums' operations

Museums in Delaware and Chester Counties got a little extra support thanks to $76,000 in recent grants awarded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

The grants are to be used for general operations by museums that are not already supported by state agency funding programs.

The museums and their awards are: the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center, $9,528; Chester County Historical Society, $21,726; Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation at Ridley Creek State Park, $3,121; Graystone Society, $8,528; Green Valleys Association of Southeastern Pa., Inc., $3,000; Historic Yellow Springs Inc., $9,253; Historic Sugartown Inc., $3,957; Mill at Anselma Preservation & Education Trust, $3,000; Nicholas Newlin Foundation, $9,055; and Wharton Esherick Museum, $4,962.
