Montco hazardous-waste collection is scheduled

NORRISTOWN If you are aching to get rid of those unsightly containers of brake fluid, antifreeze, bug spray, and turpentine, the window of opportunity is about to open.

On May 31, the county will hold the second of six household hazardous-waste collections, this one at Norristown Area High School, 1900 Eagle Dr., between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Four more events are scheduled this year.

Among the items accepted will be gasoline, oil, kerosene, varnish, pool chemicals, caustic cleaners and solvents, mercury, thermometers, flares, fire extinguishers, and fluorescent-tube lightbulbs. Crews will be on hand to collect the materials.

The county asks that you not bring electronics, appliances, explosives, ammunition, medical waste, radioactive waste, or smoke detectors. Separate events are scheduled for electronic devices.
