Montco foundation to fund educational initiatives
Grants will fund school initiatives
HORSHAM The Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation announced last week it would provide $100,000 for the 2014-15 school year to support 16 science, math, guidance, world language, environmental education, student leadership and civic learning, and technology programs in the Hatboro-Horsham School District.
Through its Innovative Learning Grants program, the foundation awards money to elementary, middle, and high school teachers and principals for projects that "enrich the district's curriculum and enhance students' learning experiences by engaging them."
"We received a terrific group of grant applications this year, and wish we could fund them all," Nancy DeLucia, executive director of the foundation, said.
Among the initiatives that will receive funding next year are Peace Makers, a conflict-resolution program at the elementary level; a program for learning world languages using iPads at the middle school level; and the use of wireless calculators for statistics in the high school.
The foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization that solicits funding from local companies.
