BUCKS COUNTY

FAIRLESS HILLS A music-filled fund-raiser to support a burgeoning memorial fund in the name of Danny DeGennaro, the Levittown guitarist who was murdered in his home in 2011, is scheduled for Saturday night in Fairless Hills, according to organizers.

Gary DeGennaro, Danny DeGennaro's brother, helped pull together Saturday's event and said proceeds will go toward the Danny DeGennaro Legacy Foundation. The hope for the foundation, Gary DeGennaro said, is to honor the late musician in a number of ways, including a scholarship fund associated with Bucks County Community College.

The scholarship will be awarded annually, and part of the application process will be for applicants to perform one of Danny DeGennaro's songs, according to Jean Holmes, director of development for the Bucks County Community College Foundation.

Gary DeGennaro said he hopes the foundation will finance other endeavors, as well, such as an engraved park bench on the college campus, or a statue of his brother playing guitar for public display.

Saturday's event, which will start at 7 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 920 Trenton Rd., will feature five musical acts, according to Gary DeGennaro, each performing some of the late songwriter's tunes. Tickets are $30 at the door, and there will be food and a cash bar.
