Police ID shooting victim, not motive

A MAN SHOT dead late Tuesday in West Oak Lane was identified by police yesterday.

Jerome Johnson, 31, was shot several times in the chest and back about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on Limekiln Pike near Ridley Street, police spokeswoman Officer Jillian Russell said.

Johnson, who lived on Matthews Street near Wister, died about 30 minutes later at Albert Einstein Medical Center. He was shot alongside two other men, a 36-year-old who was hit in the leg and a 19-year-old shot in his left foot, police said. Their identities were not released.

No information on a motive in the shooting was available, Russell said, and no arrests had been made.

Johnson lived about a block away from the scene of a shooting that occurred six minutes after the one in which he was fatally wounded. In that incident, a 20-year-old man was shot just above his right knee, Chief Inspector Scott Small said Tuesday night.

That victim was taken to Einstein in stable condition and later released, police said. His identity was not released. Police said there was no indication that the two shootings were related.
