Man arrested after shootout

A 19-year-old man was arrested late Thursday after he was seen engaged in a shootout with another man in North Philadelphia.

According to police, Philadelphia police highway patrol officers were in the area of the 2900 block of North 13th Street when they saw two men shooting at each other just before midnight.

The officers then saw one of the men trying to hide near a parked car on 13th. The man fled on foot and was arrested a block away in the 2900 block of North 12th Street, police said.

Officers found two guns near the car where the man was hiding. The other gunman fled and was not arrested. The gunfire damaged several cars. - Vernon Clark
