Lawmaker quits probe of closings

TRENTON - A veteran New Jersey state lawmaker has withdrawn from the legislative committee investigating last year's lane closures on an approach to the George Washington Bridge.

Democratic Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman announced her decision late Friday, one day after she had called on Gov. Christie to resign during an interview on MSNBC.

Her comments drew sharp criticism from several Republicans, who cited her statements as an example of "pre-conceived bias" about the Bridgegate scandal.

Christie has said he wasn't involved in it, didn't approve and had no knowledge of the lane closures beforehand.
