Storm affected businesses in Chester County urged to apply for aid

CHESTER COUNTY

Storm-affected businesses

are urged to apply for aid

WEST CHESTER The Chester County Department of Emergency Services is encouraging businesses that suffered an economic loss during the recent ice storm to consider applying for financial assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Small businesses that saw a substantial economic injury, meaning an inability to pay its operating costs, between Feb. 4 and Feb. 15 are eligible to apply, according to a news release. The loans, which can be awarded when the Small Business Administration determines a company is unable to secure a loan elsewhere, can be used for economic as well as physical damages.

According to the release, the county must show that at least five businesses in Chester County suffered substantial losses during the storm for any small businesses to be considered. Application forms, which should be submitted to the county, are available at www.chesco.org. Questions can be directed to Jeff Emmons at jmemmons@chesco.org or 610-344-5042.
