Childs takes over at Bucks County anti-poverty organiation

New leader for antipoverty agency

DOYLESTOWN The Bucks County Opportunity Council, an antipoverty organization that sponsors economic-development programs and has dozens of local food pantries, announced a leadership change last week.

Allen H. Childs, a retired business executive from Doylestown, will take over as chief executive officer, replacing longtime executive director Roger C. Collins, who is retiring.

Collins, who has been with the organization since 1994, said in a statement his time with the council was "the experience of a lifetime." He did not elaborate on why he was leaving.

Childs, who worked as an executive at Nissan in Canada, is also active with the Rotary Club of Doylestown and the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.
