211 is new Montco storm hotline

NORRISTOWN As another snowstorm approaches, Montgomery County officials are trying to expand the lines of communication with residents.

While emergencies should still be reported to 911, and power outages should be reported directly to utility companies, the county has a new 211 number for nonemergency storm-related questions or damage reporting.

The 211 hotline, a partnership between the county and the United Way, is ideal for residents to report blocked roads, fallen trees, water damage, or to ask nonemergency questions.

Commissioner Josh Shapiro also urged residents to sign up for ReadyNotify, a system that alerts residents of emergencies, severe weather, road closures or crime warnings in their communities.
