Young artists to take the stage

COLLINGSWOOD Symphony in C will hold its annual concert for aspiring South Jersey young musicians at three performances.

The Concerts for Young People will take place on Feb. 27 at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and March 1 at 10 a.m. at the Scottish Rite Auditorium in Collingswood.

Michael Boudewyns will join Symphony in C for Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. Boudewyns is a frequent guest artist with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Students in pre-K through ninth grade will perform in the concerts, including cellist Isabel Newell, 13, of Moorestown. An eighth grader at William Allen Middle School, she began playing the cello at age 5 while traveling with the Philadelphia Orchestra and her father, the tour's doctor.

Newell will perform Vivaldi's Cello Sonata No. 5 in E minor allegro.

Tickets for the performances range from $8 to $10. For more information, go to www.SymphonyinC.org or call 856-963-6683. - Melanie Burney
