BLUE BELL Apparently, Montgomery County Community College is game for anything. Especially gaming.

The college will be one of the area sites this weekend to host the Global Game Jam. The other locations are Drexel University and Camden County College.

"The Global Game Jam is the world's largest game jam event taking place around the world at physical locations," the event's website says. "Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development."

If a comparison to a hackathon doesn't help, think of it as an annual gathering at which participants "work together to create a video game or nondigital game, such as a board or card game, within a 48-hour time frame," a community college spokeswoman said.

Last year, the jam's total 16,705 participants were at 319 sites in 63 countries.

The jam will be held at the school's College Hall, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, but registration already is filled.

For more information, visit the Global Games website at http://globalgamejam.org.
