Real topic the state of Chris Christie

BLINQ Less me. More we.

Togetherness was the theme of Chris Christie's subdued but steady State of the State speech Tuesday. The annual address was a brisk and convivial contrast to the epic blame-deflection exercise he offered last week after revelations about his allies and operatives orchestrating traffic jams as a vehicle for alleged political payback.

"Failure is not an option for us," the governor declared. He was talking about public safety, but could have been describing the state of his administration amid the deafening repercussions of the Fort Lee lane closing scandal.

"I agree with Sen. Sweeney," Christie said, tipping his hat to New Jersey's top Democrat while resuscitating the notion of bipartisanship - a signature theme recently besmirched by the puerile partisan antics behind "Bridgegate."

Summing up, he declared, "Let's choose a better New Jersey."

Amen to that.
