Saturday races to benefit two area hospitals
Runners and walkers have a couple of 5K opportunities Saturday morning to raise money for Burlington County hospitals.
Supporters of Virtua Memorial Hospital will take to the streets of downtown Mount Holly for the second annual "Keep the Beat 5K" to benefit the health system's cardiac services.
The race begins near Rancocas Valley Regional High School, 520 Jacksonville Rd. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. A 5K begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a 1K fun walk. Last year the race raised $15,000.
In Medford, several hundred people are expected for the Deborah Hospital Foundation's third annual walkathon and 5K.
That course begins in Freedom Park, 91 Union St., and winds through downtown. The run begins at 9 a.m. and the walk at 9:30. Proceeds will bolster the hospital's efforts to provide cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular procedures.
