Castor takes new job with Bryn Mawr firm

Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce L. Castor Jr. has served as district attorney and considered running for governor. Next month, he will become a partner at the Bryn Mawr law firm Rogers & Associates.

Castor said he had had no plans to leave the firm of Elliot Greenleaf, which he has been with since 2008. But lawyer Lance Rogers approached him with an offer to join a smaller firm and help increase its client base, he said.

"I was very happy where I was, but this is an opportunity to do something new and exciting," Castor said Thursday. "And Lance was so enthusiastic about his ideas for the future that I just couldn't resist."

Rogers & Associates has a client roster that includes professional athletes, Fortune 1000 companies, and international corporations such as Ferrari.

Castor said the new job would not affect his role as commissioner, an office he has held since 2008. A lifelong Montgomery County resident, Castor worked in the District Attorney's Office for more than 20 years. He has served on numerous boards and committees related to legal and judiciary matters.

Last year, he explored a primary challenge against Gov. Corbett and publicly characterized him as a weak leader who had disappointed his Republican base. Castor ultimately said he would not run, citing his professional duties to Montgomery County and his law firm.

Castor said his trial background and experience with crisis management made him a good fit with his new firm.

"I know how to deal with problems that come up," he said, "and I'm not afraid to go into the courtroom."
