New Jersey twins born 12 mins. apart repeat the act

Twin sisters born 12 minutes apart gave birth to sons 13 minutes apart Tuesday evening at a Camden County hospital.

The 23-year-old first-time mothers, who live with their parents in Clementon, had no idea they would deliver on the same day, said Nicole Fisher, the younger sister, at Virtua Voorhees on Thursday morning.

It must have been "twin intuition," she said.

Her baby wasn't expected until Jan. 6, whereas her fraternal twin, Danielle, was expected to give birth Sunday.

Acting on a physician's advice, Danielle checked into the hospital Monday, and went into labor around midnight.

The next morning, Nicole could sense what Danielle was going through, she said.

"I was feeling her pain," Nicole said.

About 10 a.m., Nicole's water broke while she was driving to a store. "I couldn't believe it," she said. She went into labor at the hospital that night.

Danielle gave birth first. Her son Jonathan, named for the twins' father, John, was born at 7:43 p.m.

Nicole's son, Maximus, inspired by the hero of the movie Gladiator, arrived at 7:56 p.m.

John and Lisa Fisher, the twins' parents, were waiting Thursday for the arrival home of their suddenly enlarged family. Danielle has the third floor, Nicole the lower level.

"With two babies, it's going to be a crazy house," Nicole said, but her folks have experience with two babies in the house at once.

The sisters have had their share of coincidences.

"We've always had that twin intuition growing up," Nicole said. "If she got hurt, I would feel her pain."

Around sixth grade, Danielle was injured playing dodgeball and had to wear a neck brace. The next morning, Nicole woke up with such a "kinked neck" that she needed a brace, too.

The women have no plans for a double wedding, but Nicole expects to marry her supportive boyfriend.

"He's in awe," she said.
