Swine-flu shots scheduled in Boothwyn and elsewhere

The Pennsylvania Department of Health said it will administer swine flu vaccine Friday, Saturday, and next Sunday in Boothwyn. The free clinic, at Chichester Middle School, is limited to members of priority groups who have been unable to find vaccine elsewhere.

Clinics are scheduled the same days at 17 other sites statewide, including Reading and Manheim. Required appointments may be made by calling 1-877-724-3258 during regular business hours. Appointments are also available online via http://go.philly.com/flu (click on "Pennsylvania"), which posts public clinics throughout the region as county health departments receive enough vaccine to schedule them.

Planned so far this week:

Camden County will hold a clinic for residents at the Collingswood Grand Ballroom from 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow. It is limited to ages 6 to 18 with underlying medical conditions, or anyone 6 months to 5 years old. The phone number is 1-800-999-9045.

Philadelphia's 28 walk-in clinics for members of all priority groups who live in the city are scheduled at various times and locations all week. Call 215-685-6458.

State and city priority groups for the novel H1N1 vaccine are anyone 6 months to 24 years old; household contacts and caregivers for infants younger than 6 months; pregnant women; health-care providers and emergency medical services workers; and people ages 25 to 64 with significant medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, suppressed immune systems, heart disease, kidney disease, and neurocognitive or neuromuscular disorders. - Don Sapatkin
