Man shot dead in the NE
A man in his 20s was fatally shot in Northeast Philadelphia last night, police said. The victim was shot in the head near Bleigh Avenue and Dungan Road about 9:20 p.m. and died shortly after at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Tipsters can contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or -3335.
W. Phila. shooting injures 3
Three people were wounded during a shooting in West Philadelphia last night. At least 12 shots were fired on Master Street near 56th about 6:20 p.m., said Lt. John Walker, of Southwest Detectives.
A 16-year-old boy was wounded in the knee and arm, and a 15-year-old boy was wounded in the calf, Walker said. Both were listed in stable condition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. A 19-year-old man was listed in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with a chest wound.

2 shot in W. Oak Lane
Two men were injured in a double shooting yesterday in West Oak Lane. Police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said that a 22-year-old man was shot once in the right shoulder and a 20-year-old man was shot once in the left buttocks on Andrews Avenue near 74th about 6:15 p.m. Both were admitted to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition. No arrests were made.
Teen found stabbed in chest
Police found a 16-year-old girl stabbed in the chest early yesterday in South Philadelphia.
The teen was stabbed at 2:47 a.m. on Croskey Street near Mifflin, police said. She was listed in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Investigators are searching for a 20-year-old woman, identified as Sharmyar Bright, in connection with the incident. Tipsters can call South Detectives at 215-686-3013.
Arrest in Northeast slaying
Arnold Nelson, 34, of Oakmont Street near Leon, was arrested yesterday and charged with fatally bludgeoning Jeffrey Jackson, 43, of Chester Avenue near Cedar, in Yeadon, said Officer Jillian Russell, a police spokeswoman. Investigators said that the fatal attack occurred after the two men argued on Bleigh Avenue near Glendale Street in the Northeast about 3:45 a.m. Saturday.
Specter backs Seth Williams
U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, who started his political career 43 years ago as Philadelphia's district attorney, endorsed fellow Democrat Seth Williams yesterday. Williams faces Republican Michael Untermeyer in next week's election.
