North Jersey Pagan held in racketeering case

A North Jersey member of the Pagans outlaw motorcycle gang was ordered held without bail in West Virginia yesterday as authorities continued to process defendants charged this month in a multistate racketeering indictment.

Rocco "Rocky" Boyd, 48, of Little Ferry, was one of 16 Pagans who entered not-guilty pleas before a federal magistrate in Charles Town, W.Va. The other 15 defendants, including Pagans from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, were released on bail pending trial.

In all, 55 Pagans and associates, including the national club's top officers, face charges ranging from attempted murder and kidnapping to drug dealing and conspiracy.

Boyd was charged in three of 44 counts in the indictment. Among other things, he is accused of obstruction of justice and assault in an alleged attempt by several members of the gang to keep a witness from going to authorities. - George Anastasia
