Radnor lays off employees to cut costs

Radnor Township laid off 12 employees Friday, citing the recession.

Eight full-time and four part-time employees from various departments, including finance, parks and recreation, community development, engineering, and administration, were let go, interim Township Manager John Granger said yesterday.

The township expects to face a $2 million to $4 million deficit at the end of the year, he said. Although the township has enough cash to finish the year, the layoffs are part of a cost-cutting plan that will be explained in greater detail at the July 20 commissioners meeting, he said. The layoffs are expected to save the township $282,000 this year and more than $800,000 next year, Granger said. - Joelle Farrell
