Pedestrian killed by car in Voorhees

A 49-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed yesterday morning as she crossed White Horse Road in Voorhees, police said.

A 49-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed yesterday morning as she crossed White Horse Road in Voorhees, police said.

Robin J. Yeager of Voorhees was crossing near Burnt Mill Road shortly after 6 a.m., according to township police. She was hit by a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 21-year-old man whose name has not been released by police.

The driver, who was traveling east with a passenger, stopped his car, called authorities and waited at the scene until they arrived. Yeager was pronounced dead at Underwood-Memorial Hospital. The occupants of the car were uninjured.

The driver had a suspended license, according to police, who would not elaborate on the reason for the suspension. The man may face criminal charges depending on the accident investigation, officials said.
