Philadelphia's white-collar union last night ratified a one-year contract with the city, becoming the third of four unions to reach agreements with the Nutter administration.
District Council 47 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees voted during a meeting at Benjamin Franklin High School. The council represents 3,400 mostly white-collar workers.
Union spokesman Bob Bedard said the union would not release the vote total, and he declined to characterize the winning margin. The pact calls for no raise but a $1,100 bonus, and no changes in the city's contribution to health care. The terms mirror the contract ratified Aug. 8 by District Council 33, which represents 9,400 mostly blue-collar workers.
All four city contracts expired June 30. On July 10, the city settled on an arbitration award to the Fraternal Order of Police. Local 22 of the International Association of Fire Fighters will be in arbitration until the end of the year.
