Paulsboro woman pleads guilty in insurance fraud

A Gloucester County woman pleaded guilty yesterday to swindling her insurance company out of more than $190,000 by submitting false claims for radiation treatment.

Julia Daniels Anderson, 41, of Paulsboro, could face up to 10 years in state prison for theft by deception. She may also be ordered to pay a criminal fine of as much as $150,000 as well as civil insurance fraud fines.

Between August 2004 and March 2007, Anderson had false health-care claims submitted to Cigna on her behalf, according to the New Jersey Attorney General's Office. Those claims stated that Anderson was entitled to reimbursement for radiation treatment, a procedure she never actually underwent.

Anderson collected $190,802 from the company before it uncovered the fraud. Anderson is expected to be sentenced in December. - Allison Steele

OPINION
IT'S SAFE TO SAY that Democrats awoke yesterday with a serious case of Post-Palin Depression. "Electrifying!" said U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter of Palin's poised and feisty speech that had Republican conventioneers swooning.
