Hoeffel planning to run again for Montco commissioner

Former U.S. Rep. Joe Hoeffel has resigned from his state job in international business development and said he is planning to run for Montgomery County commissioner.

The Democrat was a Montgomery County commissioner in the 1990s. He last ran for office in 2004, when he lost a U.S. Senate race to Arlen Specter.

Hoeffel and his running mate, incumbent commissioner Ruth Damsker, hope to capture a majority of the three-member commission. The commission has been under Republican control for more than a century. - AP
