Camden man given 22-year term for assaulting child

A Camden man was sentenced yesterday to 22 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a girl under 10 years old over two years, according to the county Prosecutor's Office.

Dagoberto Gutierrez, 33, of Sylvan Street, was convicted in August of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He must serve nearly 19 years before being eligible for parole, under the sentence imposed by Superior Court Judge Robert G. Millenky.

According to trial testimony by Assistant Prosecutor John T. Wynne Jr., Gutierrez committed sex acts on the victim on numerous occasions in 2003 and 2004. The girl told a family member about the abuse in September 2004. She testified at the trial. - AP
