This week: Coldest temperatures since April in Philly

A cold front moving through the region this week means Philadelphia is likely to see its lowest temperatures since April.

The National Weather Service says temperatures are expected to dip as low as 38 degrees Wednesday night into Thursday and 37 degrees overnight Thursday into Friday.

The last time Philadelphia temperatures dropped below 40 degrees was April 22, which had a low of 38.

Typical low temperatures for this week are between 45 and 47 degrees, according to weather service data.

The week will start out significantly warmer, however. Forecasters say to expect a high of 67 degrees today and 66 degrees Tuesday.

Temperatures are slated to drop on Wednesday, with an expected high of 56 and a chance of rain.

Thursday and Friday are expected to be mostly sunny, but forecasters are calling for highs of just 56 degrees -- 8 degrees below normal -- on those days as well.

The end of the week is also likely to be breezy, "making temperatures feel a few degrees cooler," a weather service forecast discussion says.
