Rain may not dampen Phillies home opener

It's been a rainy morning in Philadelphia. But there's good news for Phillies fans: The rain and mist should clear by the team's home opener.

Tailgaters, though, could spend some time in the last of the showers if fans start their celebrations too much before the 4:05 p.m. game against the Kansas City Royals.

The National Weather Service says chances of rain are highest before 11 a.m. Then, cloudy skies should gradually become mostly sunny through the afternoon.

By 1 p.m., there's a less than 10 percent chance of rain, the weather service says.

A high temperature of about 60 degrees is expected.

Motorists should be aware of heavy traffic around Citizens Bank Park throughout the afternoon and evening for the expected sellout crowd.

Gates open at 1:35 p.m. And at 3:15 p.m., fans can line up on 10th Street to cheer on the team as the players head into the ballpark.

SEPTA is running extra service on the Broad Street Line today. Two extra express trips are scheduled for 2:56 p.m. and 3:06 p.m.

The sports express trains take fans to AT&T Station via a limited number of stops. The trains only stop at the Fern Rock Transportation Center, Olney Transporation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust stations.
