Police: Body of woman found near South Philadelphia warehouse

The body of a woman was found near a warehouse in South Philadelphia near the Delaware River, police said.

The woman was found shortly before 2 p.m., police said, in an area across Columbus Boulevard from Pier 70, a shopping complex that includes Super Fresh and Old Navy. The warehouse is in the 1900 block of Columbus Boulevard, police said.

She had a wound described in preliminary details as a "laceration to (her) right side rib cage," police said.

Police identified the victim only as a white female, 35 to 40 years old.
