Philly's Labor Day weekend forecast: Warm, chance of t-storms

If you're staying in Philadelphia for Labor Day weekend or heading into the city for the Made in America festival on the Parkway, expect warm weather with a chance of thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures of 88 degrees for Saturday, 86 degrees Sunday and 88 degrees Monday.

Those highs are 3 to 5 degrees above normal.

For today, forecasters expect the cloudy morning to turn mostly sunny later in the day, with a high of 86 degrees.

The weather service says Saturday should be partly sunny, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. There's a 40-percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, with storms most likely after 8 p.m.

There's also a 40-percent chance of rain on Sunday, and a 50-percent chance on Monday. Both days are expected to be mostly cloudy, the weather service says.

"Showers and thunderstorms will be possible just about any time," a weather service forecast discussion says.

However, the Jersey Shore and Delaware beaches are less likely to get hit with showers, especially on Monday, according to AccuWeather.

Forecasters also say high humidity is expected.

Temperatures are expected to drop after the long weekend, with a high of 81 degrees forecasted for Tuesday and a high of 79 expected Wednesday.
