Philly tax preparer accused of filing false returns to increase refunds

Taxpayers are always looking for the preparer who can help them get the biggest refund.

But Shawn Sisco went a bit too far in helping her clients, federal prosecutors say.

The 48-year-old Philadelphia tax preparer was indicted today on 31 counts of aiding and assisting in the filing of false tax returns.

The indictment alleges that she filed 31 fraudulent returns for clients between 2006 and 2009. Those returns understated her clients' taxes by $165,548, the indictment says.
