Philadelphia roads closed for July 4th events

A number of roads in Philadelphia are closed today for Fourth of July events. If you're driving in the city today, here are the routes to avoid:

Closed from this morning until 4 p.m. due to the Independence Day parade near Independence Hall:

- 500 block of Chestnut Street

Closed from this morning until 1:30 p.m. due to the Independence Day parade near Independence Hall:

- Chestnut Street from Front Street to 9th Street
- Market Street from Front Street to 9th Street
- 9th Street from Walnut to Arch streets

Closed from this morning until after the fireworks (about 11:15 p.m.), due to festivities on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway:

- The Ben Franklin Parkway from 18th Street to Eakins Oval
- Cherry Street from 18th to 20th streets
- 19th Street from Callowhill Street to the Parkway
- 20th Street from Callowhill to Arch streets
- 21st Street from Callowhill to Arch streets
- 22nd Street from Callowhill to Arch streets
- The east-and west-bound exits of Interstate 676 to 22nd and 23rd streets
- Martin Luther King Drive from the Philadelphia Museum of Art to Falls Bridge

Closed starting at 4 p.m.:

- Fairmount Avenue westbound at Corinthian Avenue (traffic diverted northbound onto Corinthian)
- 15th, 17th, 19th and 21st streets southbound at Spring Garden Street (traffic diverted eastbound onto Spring Garden)
- Spring Garden Street westbound at Broad Street
- Callowhill Street westbound at Broad Street
- Hamilton Street westbound at 17th Street
- 29th Street southbound at Poplar Street (traffic diverted onto Poplar Street)
- Kelly Drive from South Ferry Road to Eakins Oval
