A pedestrian was struck by a SEPTA train Friday night in Montgomery County.

A pedestrian was struck by a SEPTA train Friday night in Montgomery County.

A SEPTA spokeswoman said the agency received a report of someone being hit by a regional rail train around 9 p.m. near Ford Street in Norristown. The pedestrian was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

Service on the Manayunk-Norristown line was suspended in both directions as police investigated. SEPTA was operating shuttle buses between Conshohocken Station and the Norristown Transportation Center.

Additional information about the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the extent of the pedestrian's injuries, were not immediately available Friday night.
