Man who fled vehicular homicide trial, posted YouTube video, caught in Philly

A Louisiana man who fled a vehicular homicide trial three weeks ago, then posted a YouTube video defending himself, has been apprehended in Philadelphia.

The U.S. Marshals Service says Wade Lohse was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon near the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Center City.

Law enforcement officials had been searching for him since March 25, when he walked away from his trial in Lafayette, La. He was facing charges of vehicular homicide, being a felon in possession of a firearm and burglary.

Last week, he posted an 11-minute video on YouTube. Lohse appears in a wooded area and says prosecutors have treated him unfairly and threatened him with a life prison sentence.

"I have a lot of questions," he says.

He also claims that the gun law he is charged with violating is unconstitutional, and he has requested the crash victim's cellphone records to see if she was on the phone or texting, but authorities have not produced them.

Lohse was facing charges in the death of 29-year-old Cacie Barras, who died after their vehicles collided last June.
