Funeral services tonight for Sally Starr

Funeral services for Philadelphia television legend Sally Starr will take place tonight.

Family, friends and fans can visit the Constantino Funeral Home in Berlin, N.J., from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be at 8 p.m., followed by a private burial.

The funeral home is located at 231 W. White Horse Pike.

The beloved children's television host died Jan. 27, two days after her 90th birthday.

Starr, whose real name was Sally E. Gray, introduced millions of children to Popeye, Clutch Cargo and the Three Stooges from 1954 to 1971 as host of Popeye Theater. At the height of her popularity, 1.5 million youngsters tuned in daily. Starr, known for her fringed cowgirl outfits, was an icon of black-and-white television.
