Cops probe possible abduction in Fairmount

Philadelphia police are investigating a possible abduction after a witness saw a man carry a woman who was screaming for help into a vehicle.

Police said the incident happened just before 4:15 p.m. Monday, when a woman heard another woman calling for help on the 1900 block of Green Street.

The witness told investigators that she saw a man following the woman, then try to grab her several times. The man then picked the woman up and carried her into a black Chrysler Coupe.

The woman was struggling with the suspect during the incident and was trying to get away, the witness told police.

Officials said the car, which had a Pennsylvania license plate that may include the letters "JFM," was last seen driving east on Green Street.

Police obtained surveillance video and looked for additional witnesses, but no others were located.

The suspect is described as a bald black man who was wearing a dark-colored jacket and dark pants.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911 or 215-686-8477 (TIPS). Tipsters can also send a text message to 773847 (PPDTIP).
