Cool start to week in Philadelphia

The week is getting off to a cool start in Philadelphia.

Temperatures over the weekend were well below normal for early August, and that's expected to continue for the next several days. And early this morning, the mercury at Philadelphia International Airport dropped to its lowest mark since June.

The National Weather Service says to expect high temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s across the region today, with an expected high of 82 in Philadelphia.

The normal high for today's date is 87 degrees, according to weather service data.

The cooler temperatures for the work week come after Philadelphia saw highs of just 79 degrees on Saturday -- eight degrees below normal -- and 80 degrees -- seven degrees below normal -- on Sunday.

Just before 6 a.m. today, the temperature in Philadelphia fell to 62 degrees, the lowest recorded in the city since June 22, when the low was 61.

A few more cool days are ahead.

The weather service is calling for high temperatures of 81 degrees Tuesday and 82 degrees Wednesday, with rain showers possible.

By Thursday and Friday, however, the early-August heat should be back to normal, with forecasted highs of 86 degrees for both days.
