A child was hospitalized after a fire a South Philadelphia home late Wednesday.

The blaze broke out shortly before 11:45 p.m. in a residence on the 700 block of McKean Street, the Philadelphia Fire Department said.

The fire spread to multiple floors of the home, officials said. One child was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment.

Fire officials wouldn't provide the age or gender of the child.

The blaze was under control by 12:15 a.m. and the scene was fully cleared just before 3 a.m., authorities said.

No one else was hurt in the fire.
