Cops: Burlco Wawa workers nab repeat robber

A Burlington County man who has repeatedly stolen from South Jersey Wawa stores was apprehended for his most recent attempt when store employees overpowered him, police say.

Police said 48-year-old Gregory Talley tried to rob the Wawa at 798 Woodlane Road in Westampton Township by approaching the cash register as if he were buying a pack of gum, then reaching into the register and grabbing cash after the cashier opened it.

The two struggled, and other store employees came to the cashier's aid.

The workers detained Talley, of Pemberton Township, until police arrived, authorities said.

He was taken into custody and is facing robbery and theft charges for the Sunday evening incident.

Police said Talley was also charged with stealing $300 from an open cash register at the same Wawa on July 12, and is facing charges for an earlier similar offense at a Wawa in Hainesport Township.
