Amtrak service suspended between Harrisburg and Lancaster due to fire

Amtrak service in central Pennsylvania has been suspended due to a fire along the route.

Service between Harrisburg and Lancaster is temporarily stopped after a fire involving Norfolk Southern freight railcars broke out, said Craig Schulz, an Amtrak spokesman.

He said Amtrak was working to set up bus operations for passengers on several affected trains.

The Intelligencer Journal in Lancaster reports that a large propane tanker was fully involved in fire in Rapho Township. One person suffered burns in the blaze and area businesses were being evacuated, the newspaper reports.
