2 charged with murder in Phila. slaying of Levittown man

Two people have been charged with murder in the September beating death of a Levittown man in Philadelphia's Wissinoming section.

Philadelphia police said 24-year-old Krista McDevitt of Bristol and 21-year-old Ian Pawlowic of Philadelphia were arrested in the Sept. 14 killing of 30-year-old Joseph Britton.

Britton was found in a vehicle on the 5900 block of Charles Street, badly beaten and bleeding from his head. Officers had been called to that location after reports of a person screaming that he was being attacked.

McDevitt and Pawlowic were taken into custody last week.

A police spokeswoman said she didn't know what led investigators to the two suspects, or how they were connected to the victim. Bucks County-based publications reported that McDevitt was Britton's former girlfriend.

No information about the motive in the killing was available.

Both suspects are being held without bail and preliminary hearings are scheduled for May 7, according to court records.

They are facing charges of murder, conspiracy, robbery and other offenses.
