Jury selection was delayed until Tuesday in the Philadelphia trial of Marcellus Jones, accused of murder in the 2008 slaying of Beau Zabel, a teaching student from Minnesota who was shot to death and robbed of his iPod near the Italian Market.

Jury selection was to have begun Monday but Jones, 37, was not brought to the city from the state prison at Mahanoy, Schuylkill County, where he is incarcerated on a life sentence for killing his suspected getaway driver.

Zabel, 23, a teaching fellow enrolled at Drexel University, had lived in Philadelphia just six weeks before he was shot and killed on June 15, 2008, while walking home from his night shift at a Starbucks. - Joseph A. Slobodzian
