County and VFW team up for troops

RIDLEY TWP. Delaware County is collecting items to send to troops overseas for the holidays.

The County Council is working with the Herbert W. Best VFW Post 928 in Ridley Township, which sends care packages to troops once a month.

"We get names of troop members from people in the community," said Nick Constantine, program coordinator for VFW Post 928. "You don't read about our troops as much in the news anymore, and I just wish the public would remember these guys."

Care packages include snacks, socks, magazines, and holiday greetings. Delaware County collects holiday cards and gifts for service members each year.
