Homicide detectives were investigating the death of a 68-year-old woman whose body was found Tuesday afternoon in her home in the city’s Burholme section, police said.
Police were called just after 4 p.m. to the 7100 block of Oxford Avenue, where the woman was found dead in her bedroom by medics, police said. Three knives were recovered as evidence at the scene, and the victim had stab wounds. No arrests were reported, police said.
Late Tuesday night police reported that a “person of interest” — a male acquaintance of the victim — was being questioned by Homicide detectives. Also, police said the victim sustained a head injury, but investigators were unsure whether that injury was the result of the stabbing. An official cause of death had not been established.
