A Philadelphia police officer fired one shot at a suspected carjacker in Rhawnhurst early Thursday after the man got out of the stolen sedan and pointed a gun at the officer, police said.

Capt. Sekou Kinebrew said that no one was hit by the round, and that the suspect was later arrested in Pennypack Park.

A suspected coconspirator was arrested nearby, Kinebrew said.

Police on Friday identified the man who had allegedly pointed a gun at the officer as Tyrik Robinson, 18, of the 4600 block of Magee Avenue in Tacony. They identified the alleged coconspirator as Nacir Breland, 19, of the 1600 block of West Erie Avenue of Tioga.

Both men were charged with robbery, carjacking, aggravated assault, and gun offenses, police said.

As of Friday afternoon, police were still looking for the gun that Robinson had allegedly pointed at the officer, a police spokesman said.

At a news conference Thursday, Kinebrew described this chain of events:

Between midnight and 1 a.m. Thursday, a silver Hyundai Tucson was stolen during a carjacking in Fairless Hills, Bucks County. More than three hours later, at 4:21 a.m., two men robbed a security guard outside a Santander Bank on the 9700 block of Bustleton Avenue, taking cash and his keys to a white Toyota Camry. Police suspected that the same people stole both vehicles but were not certain.

About 15 minutes after the security guard reported his car stolen, a police officer saw the Toyota near Horrocks and Strahle Streets. When the officer and a man in the stolen car got out of their cars, the man pointed a gun at the officer, prompting the officer to fire one round. The officer and other responding officers pursued the man into the park and arrested him. The second man was found near the Hyundai outside the park.
