3 dead in weekend shootings in Philadelphia

Two of the killings were in West Philadelphia, the third in East Germantown.

Police are investigating the slayings of three people in separate shootings over the weekend.

In one case, the body of Raphie Brandon, 29, was found shot in the head with his hands bound behind him in the basement of house on the 7500 block of Overbrook Avenue in West Philadelphia after firefighters responded there to put out a fire about 4 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Brandon lived nearby on the 7400 block of Overbrook Avenue, police said. Investigators have not disclosed if they have established a motive or identified any possible suspects in the execution-style killing.

At 2:57 a.m. Sunday, officers responding to call for a person with a gun found Elizabeth Lewis, 62, on the 700 block of North 40th Street in West Philadelphia with several gunshot wounds to the chest, police said.

Police took Lewis to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 3:15 a.m. Lewis lived around the block on 4000 block of Aspen Street. Again, investigators have not disclosed if they have established a motive or identified any possible suspects in the slaying.

Officers responding a call for a person with a gun found the man, whose name has not yet been released, on the 2100 block of Chelten Ave. just after 7 p.m. Sunday. He had been shot multiple times in the head and torso, police said. Taken in a patrol car to Einstein Medical Center, the man was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m.

No word yet on a possible motive.
