Two men have been arrested and charged in the the rape and robbery of a woman in Center City, police said.
The woman was grabbed by an assailant around 5:30 a.m. Sunday as she was walking in the 1300 block of Lombard Street and dragged into the 400 block of South Watts Street, where she was beaten and then raped, police said. During the assault her backpack was stolen.
Kenneth Faixmel, 38, of the 300 block of South Broad Street, was arrested Thursday and charged with a series of crimes, including aggravated assault and rape, as an accomplice to the actual sexual assailant, police said.
Later Thursday night, police arrested Archie Swinson, 44, of the 1200 block of Ludlow Street, and charged him with aggravated assault, strangulation, rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, sexual assault , indecent exposure and reckless endangerment.
Faixmel has been jailed with bail set at 10 percent of $750,000 cash. Information on Swinson’s bail hearing was not available.
