Man steals $3K worth of camera equipment from woman at Reading Terminal

The suspect allegedly took the bag from under the woman's seat at the popular tourist draw.

Police are seeking the public's help identifying a man who stole a bag containing $3,673 worth of Nikon camera equipment from a woman who was at the Reading Terminal Market in Center City earlier this month.

About 3 p.m. on April 5, the man, seen in a surveillance video released by police Thursday, was standing at a table in the customer seating area of the market, on the 1100 block of Arch Street. He then swiped a 61-year-old woman's nylon camera bag from under her seat and fled, police said.

The suspect is black, about 40 years old, had a goatee and was wearing a blue sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, a black baseball style cap and gray Nike sneakers.

Anyone with information about him is asked to call the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or Detective Kovach at the Central Detective Division at 215-686-3093. Tips, which can be anonymous, can also be submitted online.
