Cops: Woman found dead in Kensington, man in custody

A man is in custody, but has not been charged, after police found a woman dead in a Kensington home Sunday.

A woman was found dead in a Kensington house early Sunday morning and a man at the residence was subsequently taken into custody, police said.

Around 3:22 a.m., police responded to the 3000 block of Ruth Street for a hospital case and discovered a 41-year-old woman with a large cut to the back of her head on the floor of a bedroom at the residence. She was pronounced dead on scene at 3:29 a.m.

A 43-year-old man who was at the house was detained by police and taken to the Homicide Unit for questioning but he has not been charged, authorities said. Police made no mention of a weapon being recovered.

The motive for the woman's slaying remains unknown, according to police.
